Building from the Ground Up: Melina Bellomo Leads the Baytown Bulkheads into a New Era

A new chapter of baseball is coming to Baytown, and at the center of it is Melina Bellomo, stepping into leadership for the inaugural season of the Baytown Bulkheads with passion, purpose, and a lifelong connection to the game.

For Bellomo, the opportunity to lead the Bulkheads at this pivotal moment is something special.

“I am excited about being a part of an inaugural team and all of the possibilities that come along with that,” she said.

Launching a brand-new organization brings energy and endless opportunity, the chance to build a culture from day one, create traditions that fans will carry for years, and establish a standard of excellence both on and off the field. For Bellomo, this opportunity is also deeply personal. Returning to the baseball diamond feels like coming home.

“The opportunity to get back to my roots of the baseball diamond,” she said. “I played softball for over half of my life, and it shaped the person on and off the field of who I am today. Success for me began on the field.”

Her years as a softball player helped mold her leadership style, teaching discipline, resilience, teamwork, and accountability. Those lessons continue to guide her as she builds the foundation of the Bulkheads organization.

Beyond the diamond, Bellomo is a dedicated community leader. She is a member of the Junior League of Houston and serves on the Speakers Committee and as a Parade Announcer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Her involvement reflects a deep commitment to service and community engagement, qualities that align perfectly with establishing a hometown team.
