New Collegiate Summer Baseball Team Launches in Baytown, TX
Baytown, TX — February 27, 2026
The Players League is expanding into the state of Texas, bringing collegiate summer baseball to fans and players through the newly formed Cowboy Collegiate League. The city of Baytown will be home to the Baytown Bulkheads, joining the Galveston Sand Crabs launch earlier this year.
Founded in 2023, The Players League has grown into a respected organization in collegiate summer baseball. Its flagship league, the Old North State League, is based in North Carolina and features 24 teams across four divisions. The league has consistently attracted top collegiate talent from across the country, with more than ten former players advancing to professional baseball in 2025 alone.
“We couldn’t be more excited to plant our flag in Baytown with the launch of the Baytown Bulkheads. This community has the energy, pride, and support system that make summer collegiate baseball thrive. Through the Cowboy Collegiate League, we’re bringing high-level college talent and a true family-focused ballpark experience to town, and we believe the Bulkheads will become a staple of Baytown summers for years to come.” said Alec Allred, CEO
The Baytown Bulkheads will play their home games at W.L. Jenkins Park and are set to begin their inaugural season in June, with playoffs scheduled for late July and early August. As a collegiate summer wood-bat team, the Bulkheads will provide high-level competition while offering affordable, family-friendly entertainment throughout the summer.
The roster will feature top collegiate players from across the country, bringing an exciting brand of baseball to the Baytown community. In addition to on-field action, fans can look forward to themed game nights, community events, youth engagement initiatives, and local partnerships—making Bulkheads games a complete entertainment experience.
