Waco Woolly Wranglers Join the Cowboy Collegiate League
The Cowboy Collegiate League continues to build its inaugural lineup with the addition of the Waco Woolly Wranglers, bringing collegiate summer baseball to Waco, Texas.
Located in north central Texas, Waco is known as the “heart of Texas”. League officials believe the city’s energy and community pride make it a natural fit for the Cowboy Collegiate League as it prepares for its first season.
The Cowboy Collegiate League was formed with the goal of bringing high-level collegiate summer baseball to some of Texas’ most vibrant communities while giving elite college athletes a competitive platform during the offseason. Players from programs across the country will compete throughout the summer, gaining valuable experience while continuing to develop their skills. The Cowboy Collegiate League is a member of The Players League which is also home to the Old North State League. In years prior, Old North State League has had the privilege to be a part of more than 10 professional baseball player’s careers, with several of those being called up just last year.
While many collegiate summer leagues focus solely on the game itself, the Cowboy Collegiate League is placing a strong emphasis on the overall fan experience and community involvement.
“What sets the Cowboy Collegiate League apart is our commitment to community, an elite fan experience, and player development,” Alec Allred, CEO of The Players League said. “Every night at the ballpark should feel like a big-time event that brings people together.”
The Waco Woolly Wranglers will now begin assembling their roster and building partnerships within the local community as they prepare for the league’s inaugural season. The team will play at Riverbend Ballpark and their season will run from June until the playoffs in August.
